Book Fair tonight! Book of the week 'Robbie's Supersonic Rocket!' by Hazel Hiles

We have a School Book Fair tonight 3.30- 4.15. Please come in and support the school if you can. World Book Day (Comes as you please - for free!) is on Thursday.

Settle Primary School's Book of the week is...Robbie’s Supersonic Rocket , a beautifully illustrated children’s book which was published in Dubai during 2016.

It is based on the children’s musical, written by Hazel and her husband Andy.

Hazel has worked with children in schools and theatres for over twenty-five years as a teacher, director and writer.

This great little book is ideally suited for children between the ages of four to eight years, Key Stage One and lower Key Stage Two, the book explores the special relationship between an eccentric and inventive grandfather and his young grandson. It will be of particular and special interest to teachers covering the themes of space, exploration, travel and recycling.

Robbie is in awe of Grandpops! He has an amazing shed where he invents all sorts of exciting things. It’s Robbie’s birthday and Grandpops does not disappoint… he builds Robbie a rocket to explore space with Moggy the cat, much to the despair of poor Grandma!

“Grandpops asks Robbie, “What would you like me to make for your birthday, perhaps a new bike?”

Stepping out of the shed, looking up at the stars, Robbie states,“I’d love a rocket to explore Mars!””
