We began this week by reading the Julia Donaldson story, The Snail and the Whale. We enjoyed joining in with the rhyming words and then using watercolours to carefully paint our own snails. We also tried writing the first letter of our names in glitter, just like the trail snails leave! We also learned about whales this week. We watched a video all about them and learned that hump-backed whales are 15 to 16 metres long! We used metre sticks to work out how big this actually is - and found out it was as big as the playground! Some of us enjoyed a fun morning in the school hall this week whilst the children who will remain in Nursery next year did a great job showing some new friends what happens in Nursery. All our new starters settled in well and we look forward to welcoming them in September. Finally, something really exciting happened on Friday. Two of our butterflies have emerged! Some of us worked together to make some special water for them to drink over the weekend - I wonder if we will have 4 butterflies on Monday?! Next week our theme will be The Seaside.
