21st May - Our Weekly News

Well, what a wonderfully busy first week we have had together! This week in Reception has been all about getting to know each other.

A lot of our work this week has been inspired by Julia Donaldson’s book ‘Monkey Puzzle’. In Literacy, we have written lost posters for the monkey’s mummy and have had some time to write about our own families.

In Maths, we have been doing lots of counting and writing numbers – both inside and outside the classroom (to make the most of this gorgeous weather!). The children have particularly enjoyed representing numbers with natural objects.

In circle times we have been joined by Felix the feelings Monster who has helped us talk about our classroom rules and what makes us happy.

Our theme for the first week back after half term – We are going to be learning about MINI BEASTS. If your child has anything that they would like to show on the first Monday back which is linked to this theme then they may bring it in for Show and Tell.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to you all for making me feel so welcome at Settle Primary and I look forward to teaching in Reception for our last half term of the academic year.

Wishing you a happy half term holiday and please don’t forget to share any photos with us on Tapestry so we can see what you have been up to.
