Our Weekly News – 3rd May 2018 – Lifecycles and Shapes

This week has once again been a busy time. We started the week with our outdoor PE lessons where we were doing different exercises and movements for a minute. We used the stop watch to time ourselves.

We have turned our role play area into a Baby Clinic and so we have been busy taking care of the babies, teaching Mrs Downham what she has to do!! We have been learning about lifecycles and have enjoyed some stories which have taught us about the different stages.

In Maths we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes and have done lots of different activities linked to shape. We have used the geoboards to create shapes and some of us made our own pictures using 2D shapes.

We have created a snack shop outside for morning play time and we now pretend to pay for our snacks using the correct coins. Snack is 1p and milk is 1p. We have been enjoying using real money to help us learn about how to pay for things. This is something you could try at home with your child to help them develop their skills with money.

It has been nice to spend time outside in the nice weather and we have been exploring the new secret garden. We have been doing some large scale painting of daffodils.

SWIMMING ON FRIDAY – Please check Tapestry for your child’s swimming dates. Group 3 will be going swimming tomorrow. Year 1 will go every week.

OUR THEME FOR NEXT WEEK – Next week we are going to have a week learning about the ROYAL BABY before moving on to the ROYAL WEDDING!!
