Settle CE Primary School is a Local Authority state maintained primary school and has provision for pupils age 3-11 years. The school is classed as a 'small primary school' as it has approximately 200 pupils on roll (the national average is closer to 280).

The school is part of a federated partnership with Kirkby-in-Malhamdale Primary School and from July 2019 both schools have been served by one governing body with representatives from both school communities.

The Executive Headteacher is Mr Richard Wright, who has served both schools in a headteacher capacity since his appointment in April 2001 at Kirkby Malham Primary and then moving to Settle CE Primary from 2004.

Mr Wright became Executive Headteacher of both schools in September 2018.

He is supported at Settle by Miss Laura Thompson who is the Deputy Headteacher and at Kirkby-in-Malhamdale Primary by the Assistant Headteacher Mrs Amanda Allen.

Our schools have had seven Ofsted inspections between the two sites under Mr Wright's leadership and each one has been successful.

Currently both Settle and Kirkby Malham Primary School are classed as at least GOOD in all areas and over the years there have been significant areas of outstanding strength that have been recognised, including our Outstanding Care and Guidance shown to pupils with which we are very proud.

Of special note at Settle Primary is our strong leadership team, caring ethos and proactive support of pupils with special educational needs and disability. We have also celebrated outstanding provision in the Early Years and been praised for our comprehensive, much valued wrap around care provision.

Our teaching and learning standards have consistently been at least on a par with National standards since 2004 and where there are any areas for development the Headteacher and school team (governors, teachers and support staff) are quick to put things right and improve.

( SAT results show an analysis of school performance - unfortunately due to the pandemic situation primary schools have not partaken in SAT tests during the academic years 2020 and 2021 ).
